We are experience an exciting summer weather. Thunder and the most violent rainstorm I’ve ever experienced suddenly replace lovely sunshine.
When I drove home from the beach the other day a woman was heading home on her paddle board.
Bad weather was coming up and she looked fragile with her profile against The Oresund Bridge and the windmills and no visible coast.
But of course the coast wasn’t far away.
I got home before the storm broke loose but I wasn’t that lucky two days ago but that’s another story.
Did you get caught up in a thunderstorm recently and what steps did you take to stay safe?
If I hurry I can make it before the rain starts.
That was my last thought before I rode the bike through the deer park and down to the sea.
Beautiful cumulus clouds were building up on the horizon, and the weather forecast predicted violent thunderstorms mixed with hail in exquisite places .
The sea was wonderful. Boats were mirroring their white sails in the dark shadows from towering clouds while two kayakers were sliding past me only leaving a faint murmur behind.
On my way back through the forest the clouds became darker and suddenly I hear the familiar sound of thunder while the rain starts pouring down.
While I wait out of the rain, I suddenly see a big stag on the other side of the trail.
A few minutes we look each other in the eyes, then he disappears worthy among the trees, leaving a rush in my stomach.
Maybe it was the same stag I met on a lovely autumn day: A golden moment
I’m so grateful that I learned to swim when I went to the first school classes.
That sport has given me so much joy.
I took these pictures yesterday. The water temperature is 17 degrees.
I am considering becoming a winter swimmer, so I might as well start now!
We went to Nordhavn to enjoy the waterfront but fell in love with skies and machines instead 🙂

Two years have passed since I last visited the bog and meadow area, Vedbaek Maglemose and I’m pleased to experience this historic place once again.
It’s a thrill to imagine that the sea level was five meters higher than today. 7000 years ago, Vedbaek Maglemose was a shallow inlet with large settlements along the shores and on small islets.
The hunters could choose between fishing in the fjord or in the sea. They could hunt and gather nuts and berries in the surrounding forests. The temperature was 2-3 degrees higher than it is today, and many burial mounds and kitchen middens testify that it was a good place to stay.
In connection with the excavation for a new school in Vedbaek in 1975, 17 graves were found from the later Stone Age. The most notable graves are exhibited at Rudersdal museums at Gl. Holtegaard and really worth a visit.
On an artificial island outside Dragør town is Dragør Fort, as part of Copenhagen’s Fortifications from the years around the 1880 to 1920.
Last time I was here, the sun shone and the sea glittered at every little ripple. The yellow houses with red tiled roofs stood in a wonderful contrast against the blue sky on this glorious summer day.
I was so interested in the many sights in the harbor, and had no time to take a closer look at Dragør Fort. But today it’s different, today the fort is my goal.
It’s bitterly cold, with a fresh breeze from the south, but the view is unique here on the top of Dragør Fort. Øresund Bridge is looming sharp against the blue sky and a large container ship looks as if it will topple down into the gap behind the horizon line.
Turning my back at the sea I have the opportunity to admire Dragør town 400 meters away on the mainland, and the houses lights up the landscape with the beautiful yellow masons and red tile roofs.

På en kunstig ø uden for Dragør by ligger Dragør Fortet, som en del af Københavns befæstning fra årene omkring 1880 til 1920.
Sidste gang jeg var her skinnede solen, og havet blinkede ved hver en lille krusning. De gule huse med de røde tegltage stod i en vidunderlig kontrast mod den azurblå himmel på den dejlige sommerdag. Jeg var optaget af de mange synsindtryk i havnen, og havde ikke tid til Dragør Fortet, men i dag er det anderledes, i dag er fortet mit mål.
Det er bidende koldt, med en frisk kuling fra syd, men udsigten er enestående her oppe på toppen af Dragør Fortet. Øresundsbroen aftegner sig skarpt mod den blå himmel, og store containerskibe ser ud, som om de vil vælte ned i gabet bag horisontlinjen. Vender jeg ryggen til havet ligger Dragør by 400 meter inde på fastlandet, og lyser i landskabet med med de smukke gule og røde farver.
