The tree is stripped,
All color, fragrance gone,
Yet already on the bough,
Uncaring spring!
~ Ikkyu, Zen Poems of China and Japan

The world is not in your books and maps, it is out there.

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate
And though I oft have passed them by
A day will come at last when I
Shall take the hidden paths that run
West of the Moon, East of the Sun. ~ J.R.R. Tolkien
I went to see Treebeard the other day and he still has a majestic appearance. If you wonder who is Treebeard I always have one foot in the world of Tolkien.
Tolkien Gateway: Treebeard, also known as Fangorn, was the oldest of the Ents, a tree-like being who was a sort of “shepherd of trees”. Very tall and stiff-limbed, with bark-like skin and leafy hair, like most Ents, Treebeard took a long time to make up his mind. He repeatedly spoke of not “being hasty”.
O! What are you doing,
And where are you going?
Your ponies need shoeing!
The River is flowing!
O! Tra-la-la-lally
Here down in the valley!
Then something Tookish woke up inside him, and he wished to go and see the great mountains, and hear the pine-trees and the waterfalls, and explore the caves, and wear a sword instead of a walking-stick.
J.R.R. Tolkien, The Hobbit or There and Back Again
Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower, leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!
Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!
J.R.R. Tolkien
Hjerteskærende skrig flængede skovens stilhed efterfulgt af uhyggelige brøl, der fik håret til at rejse sig. Der stank af orker!
Sometimes we take a long stroll trough a forest on our way out to do other things in daily life. It was on our way through the normally peaceful forest that we suddenly heard a sinister cruel roar. To tell you the truth we did became alarmed to a certain point until we discovered that there was a role play going on.
I choose to show the pictures to create a story; Orcs consultation, Hunting, Caught, Orcs, Elves meeting, Help is on the way…
Gurth ‘ni yrch! Â Death to the orcs!
Tiro! – Teer-oh!
