When the sun is out…

To be warmed by sunshine these days, you have to be faster than lightning. We have been lucky a few times. I even discovered a little park with a stunning view, flowers and shark fishing 🙂

Furesøen

The inner – what is it?
if not intensified sky,
hurled through with birds
and deep with
the winds of homecoming.

Rainer Marie Rilke

Furesøen is Denmark’s deepest lake and a wonderful natural area.
Opposite Næsseslottet, grebes have found their favourite nesting area.
The birds are busy courting each other by shaking their head and bowing in an advanced mirror dance.

A walk in the shade

Winter came late this year and with a few days of Spring, Summer came with a sustained heat never experienced before.
Walking in the shade along a lake is wonderful.
We went for a great walk along Furesøen in late May with a cooling breeze from the lake.

A few days later we did a walk along the lake one morning.
Greetings of good morning came from everywhere.
A very pleasant walk among happy people.
Sunshine does remarkable things for people’s mood 🙂

A Joyful Walk Today

Shady forests, silence, steep slopes and breathtaking views over the deep lake, Furesøen.

The Wind and the Lake

Windy weather is lovely. It freshens up the air, it’s excellent when you surf, a kite loves the wind and it’s brilliant when to dry your clothes.
I wanted to see the big lake, Furesøen in the fresh weather, and I was not disappointed, but my hairdresser might have been 🙂

Who has seen the wind?
Neither I nor you:
But when the leaves hang trembling,
The wind is passing through.

Who has seen the wind?
Neither you nor I:
But when the trees bow down their heads,
The wind is passing by.
Christina Rossetti

A Bit Shaken But Not Stirred

For a start it was like any other walk I’ve been on but then I came down to the lake.
Once it was a necessity to pull off shoes and socks on this side of the lake when strong wind came in from west.
I don’t need it today because the new bridge is raised half a meter above previous level.
Sometimes it’s nice with challenges, but today I’m happy to keep my shoes on.
The temperature is just above freezing, and the wind is 15 to 20 m/s.
Maybe my pictures got blurred but then you know why. I was a bit shaken but not stirred.
When you shake a Martini small fragments of ice are floating on top and that’s exactly how I felt when I left the lake behind me. Chilled to the bone.

The deepest and most beautiful lake in Denmark

The lake is very special to me. The stories are piling up. It is as if the lake is a constant source of new adventures.
I have experienced many types of weather conditions by the lake. But the most notable was a day when the fog came rolling across the lake.
We started the day in bright sunlight but suddenly we noticed a big dark phenomena on the lake.
It was the fog that literally rolled over the lake and enveloped us in an instant.
The lake, Furesøen, is the deepest lake in Denmark; 37,7 meters deep and the dimensions are 932 hectares.

To a Skylark

The lark trills to its heart high above the field. It disappears into the sky like a tiny dot, but the song is heard miles away and fills me with unspeakable joy. Nature is a gift!

Ethereal minstrel! pilgrim of the sky!
Dost thou despise the earth where cares abound?
Or, while the wings aspire, are heart and eye
Both with thy nest upon the dewy ground?
Thy nest which thou canst drop into at will,
Those quivering wings composed, that music still!
Leave to the nightingale her shady wood;
A privacy of glorious light is thine;
Whence thou dost pour upon the world a flood
Of harmony, with instinct more divine;
Type of the wise who soar, but never roam;
True to the kindred points of Heaven and Home!
By William Wordsworth
