September days are here,
With summer’s best of weather
And autumn’s best of cheer.”

This picture painted in 1908 by the Danish painter Harald Slott Georg Moller, is precisely the intense atmosphere I associate with midsummer.
I think it is the finest evening of the year.

When the day grew dark, a rosy glow coloured the sky. A subdued but beautiful fireworks.

It has turned into some memorable walks throughout the year. Snow and clear weather provided us with a wonderful light. Beautiful spring days followed with an abundance of flowering trees and shrubs. Then came summer with a great intensity of bird song and a few weeks of hot weather. In the middle of September the rain sat in and it did’t stop again until Christmas. Well, it has varied between overcast, misty weather, fog and no sun. But it does good to think about the first half because it was infinitely beautiful.

May you live as long as you want, and never want as long as you live.
The way to read a fairy tale is to throw yourself in. ~ W.H. Auden
There are special days in life that stands out as bright memories. There might be joyous days with the ones you love. And then there are days when you are out on your own. Days which are perfect for exploring all kind of winding paths in the woods.
It was on such a day, a spring day when I heard a deep hoarse call above the path. The tree tops formed a perfect acoustic space for bird song. A green airy room. Light-hearted I walked under the beautiful arch.
Suddenly, the deep hoarse call came back. I looked up into the foliage vault, as a large black bird flew into the woods and back over the source.
Now I saw them. Two young ravens sat perched on a branch waiting for food and the latest news from the outside world.
On this wonderful autumn day I can not help but look for the ravens from that glorious day in spring.

I had a wonderful walk in the bog today after many days of rain and fog.

I wrote these lines as a tribute to nature:
When you stumble, you will find their fruits,
you’ll play hide and seek under them,
and you’ll climb in them.
You’ll visit them with your first loved one,
and you will walk under them with your family.
They supply the animals with food.
They tell you all about the seasons.
They give you shelter on a rainy day,
and they protect you from the sun on a hot summer day.
They are trees!
They provide joy, happiness, warmth and food.
They still breathe for us –

He who plants a tree, plants a hope. ~ Lucy Larcom
The last few days’ weather reminds me of Norway. Lots and lots of rain and suddenly a sparkling clear blue sky.
A fantastic weather if you’re dressed for it 😊
Here is a picture of an old Hawthorn against a blue sky.

I had a longing for sun and bright spring flowers after seeing Jo’s post about Algarve, Portugal.
The forest wasn’t an option. None of the places I could think of was an option for that bright sunny impression ‘The beauty of an Algarve Spring’ had on me.
Then I remembered The Arboretum in Hørsholm and I wasn’t cheated.
The beautiful rhododendrons were in bloom.
The sun was out and the song thrush entertained from his large repertoire. The blackbird hummed and the bees were beeesyyy.
A marvellous walk in Denmark.
Always remember your packed lunch and leave nothing behind you but a 😊

The door was shut, as doors should be,
Before you went to bed last night;
Yet Jack Frost has got in, you see,
And left your window silver white.
He must have waited till you slept;
And not a single word he spoke,
But pencilled o’er the panes and crept
Away again before you woke…
Gabriel Setoun, Jack Frost
