This is one of the most wonderful walks I’ve been on for a long time.
Tempted by my story about Esrum Sø, my friend insisted on an outdoor adventure.
This time from the south entrance of the forest.
The huge diversity in the forest offers many nature experiences.
Forest lakes, large old pines, beech forest, larch, birch and ancient oak trees.
Fallen trees are allowed to lie, creating a unique food base for small and large birds.
Now different deciduous trees are planted.
Lakes are allowed to arise. Previously, the foresters drained the water away.
Currently, the eagles breed in the forest.

Camping in The Forest
I had a lovely walk in the forest some days ago.
After a short walk I met William. He was wearing a big rucksack. His plan was to camp along the lake, Esrum Sø.
The opportunities for camping are possible if you want to sleep out on your way through the big forest, Gribskov.
As we walked I told him of a place near a forester’s house, Graverhus, where he could pick up water.
I don’t exaggerate, I was today’s hero 🙂
Enjoy nature and leave only your footprints behind you ❤

A Walk in a Bog with Frogs
Caught Up in a Thunderstorm
We are experience an exciting summer weather. Thunder and the most violent rainstorm I’ve ever experienced suddenly replace lovely sunshine.
When I drove home from the beach the other day a woman was heading home on her paddle board.
Bad weather was coming up and she looked fragile with her profile against The Oresund Bridge and the windmills and no visible coast.
But of course the coast wasn’t far away.
I got home before the storm broke loose but I wasn’t that lucky two days ago but that’s another story.
Did you get caught up in a thunderstorm recently and what steps did you take to stay safe?
Summer Birds, Shaky Legs and Flowers
A fairy tale was waiting for me outside the Fairy Tale Woods. A suitable name for these woods!
The first thing I saw were cows grazing. But between them on the ground lay a small bundle.
A cow had calved a moment ago. The umbilical cord hung between the legs.
Both animals were looking a bit exhausted but after a while the calve made attempts to stand despite its shaky legs. That was a lovely sight!!
While I was watching, butterflies were gathering around flowers and the fragrances of summer was wonderful
Keep your eyes open for fairy tales ❤
The Danish name for butterfly is sommer-fugl. Consisting of two words: Summer and bird

Rain and Mist
Even rain and mist can be lovely on a Summer day.
But do you know the rain that makes you drenched on five seconds?
A single gentle rain makes the grass many shades greener.

A Bridge, The Roman Iron Age and a Bog
Map of a walk in an ancient bog
I find old bogs fascinating.
Four days ago we went through this bog on a road network consisting of planks and footpaths which ensures the traveller a dry shod travel.
People lived in this area for millennia.
When people dug peat in the bog in 1943 they found an old road system.
Large stones cover the road, and dates back to the Roman Iron Age.
They also found a plank laid road, 150 meter long, possibly a bridge, with 400 wooden poles that can be dated back to 2,800 BC.
Archaeologists believe the poles were meant to support a planar road across the wetlands.

Who would have thought it possible that a tiny little flower could preoccupy a person so completely that there simply wasn’t room for any other thought.
