Weather Change Happens Fast

I was in the middle of the forest. The clouds gathered and grew darker.
Soon I saw glimpses between the trees, the thunderstorm was over me.
I hate that! Suddenly you are turned into something very vulnerable and there was no car parked around the next corner.
Hours ago I went out of a bus with the intention of having a good long walk towards another bus on the edge of the forest.
I had to come up with a new idea also there were no mobile network.
Large old trees loomed in front of me on the narrow forest trail.
I had to find shelter fast. No more time to waste on my useless telephone.
My speed went up as the first rain started to fall.
Soon there were small rivers where nice trails had been just moments ago.
Weather change and consequences happens fast during these times.
I kept myself to the middle of the trail as the rain was pouring down and the thunderstorm grew in intensity.
Suddenly I heard a sound behind me and a runner passed me. We exchanged a few words urging on to each of our shelters.
Somehow it was nice to meet another human being in the middle of chaos.
When I found my bus at last I was completely soaked but very glad to be safe.
The following picture isn’t from that day.
I hadn’t got the time 🙂

Vikings, Cathedral, Sources and Authentic Environment in Roskilde

I enjoy the authenticity and atmosphere in Roskilde.
The town where Roskilde Cathedral dominates the skyline surrounded by blurred fjords and rolling fields.
It’s always a pleasure to take a walk from the cathedral down to the Viking Ship Museum and on to the fjord.

Camping in The Forest

I had a lovely walk in the forest some days ago.
After a short walk I met William. He was wearing a big rucksack. His plan was to camp along the lake, Esrum Sø.
The opportunities for camping are possible if you want to sleep out on your way through the big forest, Gribskov.
As we walked I told him of a place near a forester’s house, Graverhus, where he could pick up water.
I don’t exaggerate, I was today’s hero 🙂

Enjoy nature and leave only your footprints behind you ❤

Summer Birds, Shaky Legs and Flowers

A fairy tale was waiting for me outside the Fairy Tale Woods. A suitable name for these woods!
The first thing I saw were cows grazing. But between them on the ground lay a small bundle.
A cow had calved a moment ago. The umbilical cord hung between the legs.
Both animals were looking a bit exhausted but after a while the calve made attempts to stand despite its shaky legs. That was a lovely sight!!
While I was watching, butterflies were gathering around flowers and the fragrances of summer was wonderful
Keep your eyes open for fairy tales ❤

The Danish name for butterfly is sommer-fugl. Consisting of two words: Summer and bird

Thunder and Cows

This was a great afternoon walk on Femsølyng a part of Rude Skov.
We didn’t catch the car before the thunder broke loose. Afterwards there was torrential rain.
What about the cows? Do they seek shelter under the trees and expose themselves to lightning?
Well, there wasn’t enough space in the car!

I always think of Johan Thomas Lundbye’s paintings of cows and landscape. This is a Study sheet from 1844 by Lundbye.

Buttercups and Fairy Miners

Everything is lush and green as far as the eye can see, but after a while there is something that interferes with the green.
Golden glimpse between tall pines. Buttercups. Billions of buttercups.
As if that weren’t enough, the beautiful Icelandic horses adorn the meadow and immortalise this vibrant summer day
That’s what walking is all about:
Beautiful discoveries ❤

There must be fairy miners
Just underneath the mould,
Such wondrous quaint designers
Who live in caves of gold.

They take the shining metals,
And beat them into shreds,
And mould them into petals
To make the flowers’ heads.

Sometimes they melt the flowers
To tiny seeds like pearls,
And store them up in bowers
For little boys and girls.

And still a tiny fan turns
Above a forge of gold,
To keep, with fairy lanterns,
The world from growing old.

World Oceans Day

Ocean
I am in love with Ocean
lifting her thousands of white hats
in the chop of the storm,
or lying smooth and blue, the
loveliest bed in the world.
In the personal life, there is

always grief more than enough,
a heart-load for each of us
on the dusty road. I suppose
there is a reason for this, so I will be
patient, acquiescent. But I will live
nowhere except here, by Ocean, trusting
equally in all the blast and welcome
of her sorrowless, salt self.

A Well Chosen Path

You can always put one foot in front of another. Well most people are that lucky. But which path do you choose? The winding path, the large wide gravel road or a cycle path along the road.
Yesterday I chose a lovely path in the Arboretum in Hørsholm. A winding path along lakes and among rhododendrons. I wanted to experience the beautiful rhododendrons in the Arboretum, and I was grateful to have the chance.

A Medieval ruin, A Tunnel System and a Tinker

The party was at 17 o’clock. We can take a walk in the area before our arrival.
My suggestion was based on the fact that “The adventure is waiting for anyone who understands to grab it.” Âą
Knud Rasmussens adventures were great, but small adventures also have their time on Earth especially when time is short 🙂
It was not a sleigh ride on Greenland, an experience Knud Rasmussen would have preferred, but a hike at an old castle tower and through a tunnel system formed by the last ice age.
