Quiet before the storm

Tonight a storm will hit Denmark. The water level is expected to reach new heights.
Many homes are threatened by flood waters.
The Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde ensures the museum towards the sea while the waves are already licking up the walls.

Some days ago I was lucky enough to walk in this wonderful bog on a day full of sunshine.

Acquainted With The Night

I have been one acquainted with the night.
I have walked out in rain—and back in rain.
I have outwalked the furthest city light.
I have looked down the saddest city lane.
I have passed by the watchman on his beat
And dropped my eyes, unwilling to explain.
I have stood still and stopped the sound of feet
When far away an interrupted cry
Came over houses from another street,
But not to call me back or say good-by;
And further still at an unearthly height,
One luminary clock against the sky
Proclaimed the time was neither wrong nor right.
I have been one acquainted with the night.

Weather Forecasting

But who wants to be foretold the weather? It is bad enough when it comes, without our having the misery of knowing about it beforehand.

My Neighbourhood in Autumn Colours

I had a quick walk in my neighbourhood today.
The delicate smell of weathered leaves are intoxicating.

Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth
seeking the successive autumns.

Silence between Maria and Lee

Silence between the remains of the two tropical hurricanes, Maria and Lee.

Like Children…

How silently they tumble down
And come to rest upon the ground
To lay a carpet, rich and rare,
Beneath the trees without a care,
Content to sleep, their work well done,
Colors gleaming in the sun.

At other times, they wildly fly
Until they nearly reach the sky.
Twisting, turning through the air
Till all the trees stand stark and bare.
Exhausted, drop to earth below
To wait, like children, for the snow.

We buy havens

“We buy havens for Denmark’s birds”.
This is how the Bird life Fund and the Danish Ornithological Society present their lovely information material about the nature reserve Vaserne at Furesø and they are doing a remarkable job out there.
I did a wonderful walk from Holte to Birkerød on a stormy day. A haven for people too.

Autumn Is Here

We walk past the clay pit turned into an azure lake.
Before there were excavators, now fish are swimming.
We walk past the weir and the yellow owl house.
The owl house because the owl chose the chimney as a lookout point.
Looking for the bird, knowing that it found a nice box without smoke.
Wandering along lakes with shoes disappearing in leaves.
It is October, Autumn is here.
