Gratitude

Today was a cracking autumn day in Rådvad 🍂

..The heavenly blue of fresh new days
Oh, friend, you must employ them
Before they pass away. Be brave!
Enjoy them; oh, enjoy them!”

~  Theodor Storm,  A Song in October

“Bittersweet October.  The mellow, messy, leaf-kicking, perfect pause
between the opposing miseries of summer and winter.”

–   Carol Bishop Hipps

“But I remember more dearly autumn afternoons in bottoms that lay intensely silent under old great trees”
~  C. S. Lewis

“There is a harmony in autumn, and a luster in its sky, which through the summer is not heard or seen,
as if it could not be, as if it had not been!”

–  Percy Bysshe Shelley

Note

Raadvad, or Rådvad is a former industrial development located on both sides of the Mølleåen river which at this point marks the border between Lyngby-Taarbæk and Rudersdal municipalities in the northern suburbs of Copenhagen, Denmark. It was built around a watermill in the second half of the 18th century and has given name to a well-known Danish brand of knives and other kitchen equipment. The buildings are now all heritage listed. They include Raadvad Kro from 1861 and a hostel based in a former school from 1894. Other buildings include a centre for building conservation and a local nature school. * Wikipedia

These Are the Days..

“These are the days of the endless summer
These are the days, the time is now
There is no past, there’s only future
There’s only here, there’s only now..”

“These Are the Days” ~ Van Morrison

In early spring, when the first birds announce their arrival. At winter time, when the silence descends and the ground turns white.
Or like now, when the wonderful endless summer must give way to the coming of autumn.
I´ve walked along the lake in all seasons.
In the span between summer and autumn, when the sun is still warm and the nights are cold. Now is the most lovely time to wander. There’s only here, there’s only now 1.

Note

1 “These Are the Days” is a song written by Northern Irish singer-songwriter Van Morrison and released on his 1989 album Avalon Sunset. It was released as the B-side of the single with “Orangefield” as the A-side.

You can find this wonderful song on YouTube and Spotify.

3 Inn, Fændrikhus

A delightful walk in Denmark’s oldest forest.

The Hilly Path

Late Summer Light

Shade and Coolness During the Heat Wave

Shades of Green

The forest weaves
myriad green shades
from lime and olive
to kelly green and jade
as it keeps on knitting
its cooling shade

Saiom Shriver

I have been out and about in bogs and forest. Fantastic lushness. Lots of blueberries are set out under the trees and tempt with a break in the shade.

Live in each season ..

It’s been a long time since I last walked along this beautiful lake shore.
It’s a thrill to be back

“Live in each season as it passes; breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit, and resign yourself to the influence of the earth.”
Henry David ThoreauWalden

Serenity on a Rainy Sunday

One of my Favourite Lakes

We walk a few kilometers along winding residential roads with flowering shrubs, trees and cozy houses, and soon we are down by the lake.
This is years and a few lock downs since I last was here, and I’m completely overwhelmed by the thoughts of all the fun and strenuous experiences that have piled up over the years.
It is cold and windy. The weather is very changeable and the rain showers violent. Still, we meet people who are out and about.
Soon it is pouring down with hail and heavy rain, and we hurry to shelter under some large oak trees. Another awesome moment where nature sets the agenda ⛈️😊

Happy Walk to All of You
