Freya’s Hall

“There is a lovely land with spreading, shady beeches…”
These opening lines are the introduction to one of the Danish national anthems. The words always make me think of a special place along the eastern coastline of Zealand the sea called Øresund.

Huge beautiful trees are standing as a symbol of ancient warriors and provide humans and gods cooling shade on a hot summer day. Some of those trees are leaning towards the sea as a tribute to the reflection of the blue sky.

I went on a bike ride along the Mill Stream to have a look at this unique place.

Once again, my expectations were fulfilled. The road to the sea is gorgeous now that all the foliage turn green. I drove through the deer park where the crown deer stood in the shadows like statues watching all my movements. I know where they are. Otherwise, I had driven past oblivious to them.

Finally, I could see the coast of Sweden in the distance behind the flashing blue sea while I was surrounded by those stately trees.

I was confirmed, this is Freya’s Hall.
