That is a very neat tablet. I don’t speak Danish, but I did put the description under the image into a translator. Amazing how old it is.
Great shots of a beautiful country. Thank you, Hanna!
Hi Resa. Thank you for comment on my Danish writing.
There were no proper roads in Denmark around the year 1100. The passage here by Bastrup Lake must have been very important, since someone would sacrifice a building of this size. The location on a high point of a glacial valley reinforced the overview. From the tower there was a good view, and anyone who tried to pass could be seen from afar. With signal fire one could warn the other fortifications on enemies in good time. The tower was most likely in use until 1200s.
The tower was the largest of its kind in northern Europe in the 1100s.* Egedal Leksikon
At that time the Vikings had an uneasy time in Denmark. Fascinating to think about their alliances and power struggles.
…sometimes a location has a certain aura and I must say I find it at the old ruin and the lake.
Happy week, Resa ❤
Hanna
Thank you, Hanna! I love history.
Hello
I wish you a nice weekend!
The same to you, Marco 🙂
Hanna
Sí. El callejón del abedul es precioso. 🙂
Hanna, there is no one colour sign of Autumn in Denmark (at least on your pictures). Everything is still green and bushy.
Yes you are right not much autumn colours to be seen yet 🙂 I guess it’s due to the cold and wet summer 🙂
Unlike you we have a lot of Autumn painting already. Autumn just starts to build up its Art!
Yes! One can really look forward to that entertainment 🙂
Brilliant Hanna! I love a walk that includes nature & history & culture. Your photos are great too; you capture the light so well.
The history arouses the curiosity within me and makes me fly, figuratively of course 🙂 so I guess we are alike 🙂
Thanks a lot, Ash,
Hanna
Those cattle are rather magnificent with their shaggy faces and horns. They look very well fed in that beautiful green countryside. How lucky people are there to have such lovely paths to walk. Another lovely set of photographs. Thanks, Hanna. 🙂
Hi Jane. Sometimes one just want to relax and enjoy nature. That’s where the marked paths are of great help.
The cattle seemed to enjoy the day as much as we did they look cozy with their tousled hair 🙂 🙂
All the best,
Hanna
