A wildly beautiful place in Tafjordfjella, Norway!

On a mountain hike in Norway, we sat one evening in the mountain cabin Torsbu, and a hiker told us this story:

For the last 25 years, he has spent a week of his holiday in the mountains.
He hikes alone, enjoying the silence of nature. But one year, he is a bit late.

Autumn is coming to an end, and there are very few people in the mountains and at the cabins.

After several days of hiking without encountering a single person, he begins to long intensely for company.
Now his hope is that there will be people at the next mountain cabin.

After many hours of walking, the dark silhouette of the cabin appears on the landscape.

On our way to Pyttbua i Tafjordfjella

The large mountain cabin, Pyttbua is empty, dark, and cold.
He hurries to light a fire in the fireplace and a couple of candles. This lessens the disappointment, and after the meal his mood becomes better.

He goes out of the mountain cabin and to the toilet outside. It is while he is sits there that he hears people!

Talking and laughter, the sound of footsteps, and a door slamming.

Encouraged by the thought of company, he finishes quickly and rushes over to the cabin.

But wait! The hall is empty and the silence is deafening. He stands there and listens, but there is no sound other than his own quick breathing.
He shouts: Hello! – no reaction. Just deep silence –

Afterward, he goes through the entire cabin without finding anyone, and he admits that it gives him a very restless night, trying to convince himself that his imagination has played a trick on him.

So! Were they ghosts? You’d better make your own judgement 😊
