Looking for butterflies this summer. Saw the wonderful little ‘Ildfugl’ Lycaena phlaeas.

These pics are simply stunning!!!
You are much to kind, Luisa. Thank you!!
It’s well deserved praise! 🙂
🙂⚘️
Here they are known as “Small Copper”. Beautiful, although I have not actually seen one! Love butterflies & do as much as possible to attract them into our tiny garden. 🌹🙋♂️
It was my ‘first’ Small Copper. I’ve been looking for butterflies this year in all sorts of flower beds. But it is mainly cabbage butterflies that we see everywhere.
And yet, when you least expect it, there is a magnificent example of an emperor’s robe sitting on a quite ordinary green leaf. One more thing! They do not fly in just any weather. That just makes it more exciting 🥬🌻😊
Thanks, Ashley!!
Wonderful series Hanna! Summer colours and the deep blue sky surrounding the moon for some contrast. Cool!
Thanks a lot, Peter 🌻 Looking for butterflies is a pleasure. I have studied and admired all kinds of wild flowers this year. The moon is always beautiful on a late summer’s night.
And you are right the contrast is cool 😊😎
The butterfly looks like a beautiful and striking flying flower or part of the plant!
Thanks Mary!! The butterfly really is wonderful. A fellow blogger made me aware of Guppy and Shepard (2001), its specific name phlaeas is said to be derived either from the Greek φλέγω (phlégo), “to burn up”, or from the Latin floreo, “to flourish”.
I like the Latin florea, to flourish ♥️
A beautiful photo collection.
Thanks a lot, Lynette!!
Nature !! enjoyed these photo’s , eco
Happy to know, Eco. Wonderful to be out there exploring 🙂
Thanks a lot!!
Lovely images.
Thank you, Rupali!!
We get quite a few Small Copper butterflies by the seaside here in Devon, mainly the sit on the path and take off as you are walking towards them. Always takes a bit of stealth to get a good photo like yours
Thanks for that, Steve! I love the concept, stealth mode. The technology creates a myriad of possibilities of all kinds 😊
One could also use Harry Potter’s invisibility cloak 😊😊
I had one day where I saw a whole variety of butterflies. It was probably the perfect weather to walk the wings in.
Beautiful shots, Hanna!
Thanks a lot, Sue ⚘️
Always great to explore ❤️🙂
